I bought this for the wife for her birthday and I think she has used it everyday since. Whilst she had a minor issue with a hanging screen this was soon sorted with some excellent on line support from the Scroll Techies, it was a matter of clearing out the cache.

Don't bother with a 7" tablet they are a pain as you are constantly enlarging the text to select the links.

I bought this device pretty much as soon as it became available - it seemed like just what I needed: a cheap tablet with a big screen and a fairly decent spec. It lived up to itself with regards to screen - the 9.7-inch screen (same as an iPad) is really clear and the IPS means it's viewable from almost any angle. Makes a big difference compared to the 7-inch tablets. Having a microsd card slot is an advantage, as this really opens up the ability to increase internal storage. Also the addition of a USB-OTG port means using the included cable, USB memory sticks, mice, keyboards and 3G and bluetooth dongles can be attached and used, which is a big plus. Also the HDMI port (and once again, included cable which is very uncommon these days!) means videos or games can be played on an external monitor or TV. Combined with a mouse/keyboard through a USB hub this pretty much turns the tablet into a fully fledged computer! However, performance can be poor. The tablet is sluggish, prone to freezing for quite a number of seconds (a long time when all you want to do is open email!) and apps crash quite often. This is frustrating as the spec of the tablet is really not that bad - I have a Huawei Ascend G300 which more or less has the same specification, yet the phone completely outperforms this and is generally flawless. Nonetheless, as a student this comes as somewhat of an advantage to me - it means I can get lecture notes on my tablet, read them during a lecture, but never be tempted to check Facebook because it will take so long to switch apps!

As to clear up the Google Play Store issue: out of the box the device technically doesn't have the Play Store visible - what the manufacturers have done is designed a launcher (the thing where you put your widgets and can launch apps) that automatically hides the Play Store. It is still installed however, and can be found through two ways: either use the search app to search for 'Play Store' or download a third-party launcher (such as ADW Launcher or Nova Launcher) which will not hide the Play Store installation.

For those interested, the device also comes rooted (or at least mine did); simply download and install SuperSU from the Play Store and then any apps requiring root can be controlled from this. A limited number of ROMs are available from the Slatedroid site (as are instructions how to install CWM, although support is limited and the primary developer has moved on to other devices. Also the device does not like being overclocked (at all), so those interested in eking out performance by overclocking are out of luck.

Sometimes I think the device has a mind of its own though, as other times when using it, it will run much smoother: swapping between apps without lag. However, intermittence is not acceptable, and I feel like I wasted my money on this. Unless you really feel like you'd need the screen real estate of a 9.7 inch tablet, go for the Google Nexus 7. This device runs perfectly and the specifications blow this device out the water. Yet you pay the same. The only downsides are screen size (and it really is a step down, the Nexus just feels like an oversized phone, this device is just a keyboardless laptop) and the fact the Nexus doesn't have a microsd slot.

Overall this device works fine once you're settled into an app such as Adobe Reader or a video player, but don't expect to be able to be multi-tasking like you would on an iPad or higher end device. Definitely a device for a patient user.

First bought the Extreme which developed a fault with the screen so had to be returned to Storage Options to which I must say have the best customer support I have ever dealt with, they returned my tablet with an Elite version to which I must say is much better than the Extreme, one tip though run a task killer and do a reset if the tablet starts to slow down but back up your files first...

This is a fair tablet.

It only has 1 speaker on back which isn't great .

the screen is good

This is first the tablet I ever used & I had to return it as there was a piece of dirt below the glass!

It was thin & light

It was very good at running flash with no problems and very responsive if it wasn't for the defect I probably would have kept it!

After buying 2 of these from other online stores both arrived faulty or damaged and had to be returned, so thought I would get a 3rd from Amazon,
the previous 2 both had build quality issues where it just wasn't put together correctly, the 1st fault was when you pick up the tablet from the right hand side of the screen by the hdmi port it would short out the display and crash the tablet, 2nd fault on the 2nd tablet was the back cover was slightly coming away from the screen and for some reason would make a clicking noise. and finally the 3rd fault on the 3rd tablet was poor performance and major lagging when using the web browser and scrolling through screens, and also after the tablet had been on for around an hour the screen would start to flicker when using it? In the end I gave up and used Amazons 30 day money back deal which was very fast and easy to use unlike the 3 scroll elite tablet's I had purchased. after all this I thought I would go out and get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and am now happy to say it is 10 times better and worth the extra £50 as Samsung are doing a cash back deal at the moment.

Hi I was sent this in exchange for a faulty scroll extreme tablet, the first thing I will say is the customer service is very good, the product is not.
I am now about to send my third elite back for replacement, the build quality externally is very good, but the internal electronics are just not reliable, I can only assume that the manufacturers have either used sub standard components, or the build is poor.
My first unit wouldn't even turn on, the second just locked up with no wifi, when i would get it to turn on. On the third unit the wifi has stopped working.
Frankly the product is not fit for sale, and I think reflects the trend of poorer quality from Chinese produced goods that we seem to be seeing.
On the plus side when these units work they are good, I found the screen responsive, speed ok, just wish they could get the hardware reliability sorted.

Bought the Elite at the end of May, and left giving a review until I had tried it out. Never having had a tablet before, wasn't sure what to expect, but I am well pleased. It feels sturdy, looks good and does all I want. I can surf at a decent speed, and the screen is clear, bright and responsive. It has frozen a couple of times, but I leave it a few minutes and it's back to normal. More my fault than the tablet's, I think. I knew before buying that it didn't have Google Play, but as it was everything else I wanted, decided it wasn't a problem. Since then, Storage options has issued a firmware update for the Elite and it now has Google Play, which I must say has 'put the icing on the cake'. The battery life could be better, but good enough for my needs. So for an inexpensive 9.7 inch tablet, I am very happy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as similar priced tablets, 21 July 2012

Very dissapointing. I had the Scroll Extreme which was slow and not that well made. Was thinking of getting this until I tried one. I thought the extra memory would ease the strain but no, It's the overall power that lets it down. All seems well at first, but when you want to add live wallpapers and a fair few programs the same thing still happens, juddery and slow. Even task killers make no difference.

So I've now ordered the YuanDao N90 Dual Core - 9.7 inch 1.5GHz dual core CPU quad core GPU RK3066 android 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich tablet with IPS display, bluetooth, wifi. from Amazon last night. For a few pounds more you get way faster speed, bluetooth and more besides which puts old spec models in the bin.

No doubt Scroll will release a dual core/quad core graphics version very soon, they will have to as the price for this is way too high.

The Scroll Elite 9.7 inch is the first tablet of any kind I have owned.

It looks nice, and the build quality doesn't look significantly different from an iPad - which this tablet resembles visually.

However, I hadn't realized what a problem the lack of "Google Play" would be. This meant that I was intolerant of the couple of minor hardware problems and returned it for refund ( 1: "digital noise" from speakers - intermittent and faint but clearly audible and rather annoying. 2: Intermittent white lines on screen when plugged into charger, together with interference on nearby radio )

The other problems were:
* Poor battery life - I tried four charge-discharge cycles. Each time I got about 3 hours.

* Mediocre WiFi performance. Nice and easy to set up, but reception much poorer than my Macbook laptop.

Other than that I thought it was great. Not a laptop replacement ( "keyboard" not good for rapid typing , processor a slower, much smaller "hard disk" ) , but a better for reading documents and using while walking around.

I did try to install Google Play, but once I had registered the program would exit almost as soon as it started.
I tried a "slide install" of BBC Iplayer but got the message that my device was not supported.
A "slide install" of Angry Birds did work.

The device seems to be a re-badged T05
