Laptop = Brilliant - Fit the Samsung SSD = Even better / faster... Incredible machine for the money!
Read the reviews about installing the SSD - Samsung's instructions are poor, Norton Ghost is a nightmare. Order the Paragon software and you'll be done in a jiffy!!! I spent X hrs messing about with Norton before I ordered Paragon sofware. Once I had I was done in 30 minutes!!!! :-) Enjoy

This is an excellent large screen laptop. The Core-i7 is fast and for normal users the processing power is more than everyday needs.

Nowadays, Sumsung seems to be the leader in mobile phones, flatscreen tvs, laptops and fridges.

Get one while they're still available.

There are lots of good reviews of this Laptop but not much about expansion.
The RF711 has only 2 memory slots, and 8GB is supplied as standard with the S07-UK model.
I replaced the two 4gb memory cards with 2 x Corsair 8GB giving me 16gb. This worked seamlessly without even needing a trip to the bios.
The RF711 has an empty disk bay and I added a 128GB SSD using the fitting kit supplied with my RF711-S07-UK. Making the SSD the boot disk was a problem as it was not possible to flash upgrade the disk software, whilst operating as a primary drive. Why did I need to flash a new ssd drive - well it froze the RF711 completely solid once a day - resolved by the later firmware. So update the ssd firmware first, it saves a lot of hassle. Also reinstall, windows 7 so that it has a chance to configure its self for the SSD.

Great value and more expandable than you might think.

Despite a number of reviews stating the problems with the HD interface the model I have has a 1TB HD which would is adequate and it is very unlikely I will ever need to add another drive. The laptop is quick smooth responsive a great display the speakers could be better scratchy sound not much volume (but bareable), but if you use it with good quality head phone or external sound system or speakers the sound is very good. I use it predimonately for work and it does everything I need it to. Good value for money

This laptop is wonderful to use and to look at. Does everything it says on the tin. The only flaw - and it's pretty major for me - is the poor sound. The volume is just too low, too low even to hear what the quality is like, despite the grand sounding sound equipment it boasts. Yes, it's good if you plug in decent speakers, but for me it means I can't just take the laptop it elsewhere in the house to watch a film or listen to music as it's not possible to hear media properly (and my hearing is OK!) without carting the speakers (and amp)along also. Otherwise would have been a 5 star. Not sure if it's a technical hitch with this particular laptop or with the model.

First of all, let me start by saying that this is an excellent product. I bought the UK version in May and am delighted with it.

However, my wife, who is BiPolar, had thrown out one of the two support disks which came with it.

The backup software for Windows became corrupted as did the currently loaded Windows 7 operating system so I had to use the backup software. I found the first one and ran it and after a while it called for the second disk.

I rang three different numbers for Samsung support and each one of them denied that any support disks came with the product and they refused to help me.

I escalated this to a manager and he, also, didn't know of the two support disks and said he couldn't help.

MAKE COPIES OF YOUR TWO SUPPORT DISKS.

I cannot see a problem for RF711 owners if they backup their support disks and put them in a safe place.

MEANWHILE: If anyone is willing to send me a backup copy of the second disk, I use dropbox at: ampers (at) gmail (dot) com.

Finally, I got this working with Ubuntu Linux but would like to get Windows working with it again.

An excellent piece of machinery. The only problem was the Norton software. 2 years ago I got so fed up with the constant Norton interruptions saying "I had a virus" that I changed to K'sky. I'm much happier and have bought a single licence K'sky for this machine.

Back to the Samsung - graphics VG, Hard disk VG, added disk VG, display VG, 8 GB ram great (as it uses the x64 bit W7). I don't like touch pads, generally, but this one's good. Runs AUTOCAD easily (So does my NC10). Haven't tried "real games" yet but don't think it will be a problem.

I bought this to replace my aging Fujitsu 18" laptop and wanted something quick. This really is quick, easy to set up to begin and with a very clear screen. I do a lot of things with my laptop and the processor copes with everything at once (some are very processor intensive). I also do a lot of jigsaws on it and the screen is a good size and clear for seeing the pieces. So far, I have plenty of room left on the massive hard drive. Overall, I would highly recommend.

I was intending to build an Intel i7 Sandy Bridge high performance desktop computer when I stambled onto the tech details of this Samsung Laptop and I was impressed. I ordered it utilising the Samsung Cash Back offer meaning all I have to pay for it is £625! It arrived in perfect order and once I fired it up, it met all my expectations.

It is a perfect machine for Autodesk Revit users working on 3D building models. The only slight point worth following through is that the graphic card seems to echo some glazing components shadows when using 2013 Autodesk released products. It may not be a problem with the laptop settings but the software settings.

I am perfectly happy using this laptop running Autodesk 2012 products as there seem to be no problems at all.
