I would say im definitely impressed by this purchase! Very light weight and extremely portable. Im a university student so i bring it to and from uni everyday. Great for doing work on but i would say the keyboard keys are slightly too flat for my likings. And the audio system on this laptop isnt as great as my old dell laptop. But nonetheless if you're looking for something for more work related things rather than entertainment then its a great buy! Value for money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ridculously flimsy, the worst screen and the worst keyboard ever, 16 Nov 2012

The Disturbance in The Force... - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toshiba Satellite Z930 - 132 13.3-inch Ultrabook (Intel Core i7 - 3667U 1.9/3.2GHz, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Windows 8, Bluetooth) (Personal Computers)
The good
-------------

The performances are perfectly adequate, it runs smoothly (I'm mainly using Linux, but it's ok on Windows as well).
I note here that installing Linux was possible only through changing BIOS setup (EFI boot method and TPM had to be deactivated, but it was possible).
During normal usage (internet browsing) the fan doesn't run, under heavy load (youtube and similar flash applications) the fan operates, but the noise is acceptable.

It's considerably light.

The processor is slightly better than other similar ultrabooks at the moment of purchase (Core I7 3667 instead of the more popular 3517).

The temperature of the surfaces is never a problem, especially on the palm-rest, despite being of metal (I'm very demanding in this respect).

This is where the good ends.

The bad (I mean, seriously unacceptably bad)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The keyboard is a bad joke, I'd have never imagined that Toshiba could provide such a ridiculous thing. The feedback from the keys is horrible, and it's very easy to miss a space unless you hit it very precisely or very strongly. The noise is low but unpleasant.
Clearly this thing is not defective, it's just as a cheap toy.

The overall impression is of a device that could break apart at every moment. It's impossibly flimsy, it seems so weak and gives such a bad feeling. The screen lid flexes a lot, and I'm almost afraid of opening and closing it. Also, in my specimen, is badly assembled and doesn't meet the case on the right.

The touchpad is another masterpiece of mockery: it's small, the buttons are unresponsive and you have to press them so hard that the entire machine flexes.

The worst of all aspects is the screen: the resolution is inadequate for this class of device (1366x768), but I knew this before buying.
The real problem is its quality:
- the viewing angles are the worst I've ever seen, worse than my Compaq in the 90's: if you are not exactly positioned (especially on the vertical dimension) it's very difficult or impossible to see the content; even so, the top and the bottom are severely washed out at the point that readability of text is affected;
- the contrast is bad, really bad;
- the colours are completely distorted, it's almost impossible to recognize a colour compared to any other screen;

Conclusion
-----------------

I should note here that I wasn't unrealistically expecting the overall quality of a Mac Pro Retina for half the price. But it doesn't matter if the machine performs well, if it's a pain or impossible to use it. There are some compromises that simply can't be made.

I really feel mocked and tricked by Toshiba. I already had a big disappointment before with a Toshiba tablet of astoundingly poor quality. This puts the word "end" on the story between me and Toshiba. I knew it as a serious brand but they just wasted my time and my patience twice.
Their products will fall into the oblivion of the irrelevance and indifference they deserve.
