1.0 out of 5 stars Expect 2 months functioning, at most, 16 Dec 2012

This is the most expensive and the most disappointing computer I have ever purchased. The screen spontaneously cracked within 2 months - no knocks, no drops, no dents - and of course, the sainted Apple Care doesn't cover screens (or batteries, FYI). A new screen will cost you 500 quid, just so you know what the real cost of this computer is going to be if you decide to go with the trendy but useless MacBook Air.

Within another week or so, my computer started to randomly switch itself off despite having the most up-to-date software. The 'genius bar' were flummoxed but were considerate enough to suggest I buy the new model instead. Yep, don't think so.

If you want a hideously over-priced doorstop, go with the Macbook Air. I don't know how Apple keep getting away with inferior products and horrible business practices but I suppose the world loves trend.

5.0 out of 5 stars MacBook Air a Revelation?, 13 Dec 2012

I wanted to switch from PC to Apple for matching up with iPhone and iPad and so far I'm liking it albeit with reservations. There are still some things I haven't quite worked out, not sure if possible or not so still learning. File structure is one of the hardest things to grasp, especially trying to go up levels beyond the favourites. I can save to levels above this, but where and how do I get into Macintosh HD, then users then my name with more folders that displayed in my favourites? Aarghh!! I'm sure there's a way but how?? No ALT GR key for spell corrections in word is a key stroke I like to use, no delete key but a combination option (fn + backspace).
So far it looks as though I'm against it but honestly I'm not. It's just these days it should all be simple and not require a manual.
Trackpad usage is amazing and much more intuitive, so is the magic mouse. Full wired keyboard is better than wireless as has a number-pad and a DELETE key. Happy days!
So far all software and updates have worked seamlessly and Parallels is excellent for the unfortunate little work program that runs in Windows only.
Still learning and am convinced I will be a convert eventually.
As hardware it's fast, boot up is seconds, light, gorgeous single piece of metal and not a single crash.
Expensive but worth it...

Rather buy an Intel Ultrabook with Windows.
Apple is overpriced rubbish with out dated technology.
Its not even Full HD
Wake up people and smell the coffee and save yourself your hard earned cash.
Remember your tied to Apple once you`ve parted with your cash and how handy is that.

Isnt a massive issue, but this is listed as the UK model, MB231B/A. I actually received MC231ZP/A which appears to be an international version without specific UK keyboard layout (has no £ sign on number 3 key and has small rectangular enter key).

as i say, isnt a big issue for me but seller should have been clearer.

This was yet another brilliant apple product.
The Mac has a sleek design making it look professional and sophisticated. Its easy to travel with and extremely light. It has a fantastically wide screen. It has a wonderful design as its fast and has good wifi software-you certainly get what you pay for.
It has all the apple apps allready downloaded into its system, this is great as you feel, welcome to the mac, and its facility's. its battery life is fair, only 4 and 1/2 hours of it though. Its a shame that it doesn't have any retina either.

Keep up the good work apple!

This is my second MacBook and about the tenth PC I've owned. It's fast enough for everyday stuff, looks cool and makes me smile. You really get what you pay for. 5 star.
