A superseded model ( less than 1 year ago) at half the new peice - superbly well made made & very robust construction - made top last - WARNING - this can be updated twice - once to an updated version of Android Honeycombe and then to Ice Cream Sanwich. But the second update from Honeycombe to Ice Cream Sandwich removes the ability to use Adobe Flash Player.
My advice is to update just the first time to the improved Honeycombe version (for which the Xoom was built) which brings into use the microSD card storage but NOT to Ice Cream Sandwich. The advantage of ICS over Honeycombe do not outweigh the loss of Flash Player.
Otherwise the tablet is very good - a little pedestrian at times with a 1Ghz chip but makes up for that with massive storage increased by the additional capacity of a microSD card brought into use by the update to the 2nd version of Honeycombe.

REMEMBER - 3G is usable for a data connection only - there is no SMS or calling facility with this tablet (like all others) - you have to download and subscribe to Skype for that.

After reading all the pros and cons of most of the top sellers i decided to treat myself to a tablet. In my place they is 3 laptops "mine and the kids!" when all gathered in the living room it tends to be a little congested shall we say! with a laptop you will get a couple of hours before the charger is goin in and then the floor looks like a plate of black spaghetti! so i decided to try out a tablet i have used an i pad before and i do say they are brilliant for what they are! but all i want is something to surf msn, facebook, ebay and of course amazon! and something can take with me when out and about over the weekend. I purchased this tablet last week and must say it is brilliant! it has everything i want and is ideal for browsing on night times! the kids love it too and the battery life is really good i get around 4/5 hours depending what i am doing . they is a camera on the back and front so you can catch the odd moment on it too! it is brilliant on you tube as well.i do have one gripe the charger tip is minute like an old nokia port which makes me leave it to charge instead of using it while charging but simply leave it to charge on a night as they is more than enough juice to see a night out through the week! i am now looking for another 2 as the kids want them now to replace there laptops in all fairness they are alot more tech minded than me.
All i will say is if you are like me just do the odd bit off browsing and watching odd film then this is ideal it is great to use and doesnt take long to get used to it either. the touchscreen is very forgiving to my not so nimble hands too!
It may not be the best tab on the market as you check reviews but it is ideal for me i cant fault it!!
hope this helps.

This was the first tablet ever bought. I bought for my daughter. She is loving it and she learnt to fully navigate in it.
Now I got Google 4.1.2 firmware in it(flashed US version). I think it is much faster and perhaps faster than some new tablets.
Camera is excellent. Every penny well spent.

Only problem is its weight, feels heavier.

I bought the xoom last year when it first came out, all my friends bought the Ipad they now only use it for surfing now all the updates are released EG micro slot working Android 4.0 in the mean time one friend has had two pads ( the new 4 G that only worked on the USA net work Oops! and then the one that will work,) to keep up and it's still not as loaded, and the other friends went for the i pad 3, from the start it as the micro card and the data card for Internet on the move HMI and micro usb all of which are very useful, and coupled with the google shop for streaming movies is fantastic, I think what I'm saying if you want to make a fashion statement get the I pad if you want a solid tool to use the motorola is a better buy if you don't want a toy.

I don't buy things on a spontaneously or on a whim. Like most people in this modern age I research things to the point of overdoing it and my girlfriend saying 'just bloody buy something will you'.I bought the Xoom ignoring friends telling me I need and apple or Samsung. I upgraded it straight away with another 32 gb micro sd and was ready to roll.

Well what can l say apart from it being the best thing i have ever bought. Its fast responsive and the feel of it is that it's a proper bit of kit and not just a cheap import. Now it's been upgraded to ics it runs even smoother. I have a load of movies and music on the sd card and use this cracking bit of kit all the time. I mainly use it to stream music or watch new release movies from the play store through my TV by connecting the HDMI cable. I also use it for surfing all the time.

The only thing that does taint it slightly is that it can be a bit klunky on some sites like facebook and alike. I'm not sure its a tablet thing or not as i have a similar problems on my Samsung s2 phone but that could just be the site or the connection. I have used the galaxy tab 2 and also the ipad and i can't really see that they do anything significantly better than the Xoom.

I would highly recommend the Xoom to anyone, especially those doing as much research as i did. I am looking forward to the Jellybean update soon.

Have Amazon put up alot of their tablet prices since they launched the kindle fire to make the kindle look better value for money?

I enjoyed this product the first year, but shortly after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty ran out, the screen started to become unresponsive. I have taken good care of the device, kept it in a case, used a protective film etc... but the screen sometimes won't respond to touch, at all, and you have to keep switching the device off and on until it responds. Useless!
I checked on the web, and there are countless owners reporting the same 'unresponsive screen' issue (try a google search...). Some more tech-capable people have opened the device and found that there is a problem with the ribbon/flex cable, but i don't have the skills to do this myself. Motorola want £130 to resolve the issue themselves; a very good way of improving 'after market' sales for the company! Despite all the complaints on hundreds of forums, Motorola will not acknowledge this as a "common problem" and therefore you must pay for their faulty manufacturing process or cheap components.
I really like Android, and would get another Android tablet, but if this device can only last a year before you need to spend another hundred pounds on it, i would say it is a rip-off and not a good purchase.

Have been toying with the idea of buying a tablet for some time, but wasn't sure if:

a) it was the right thing for me
b) should I buy an iPad or a Xoonm.

Well the answer to question a) is a resounding yes. Love the concept. So intuitive to use and connecting to the web couldn't be easier

The answer to b) was to not blindly follow the Apple crowd but read the reviews of the products, weigh up their different qualities then look at the price comparison. The Xoom has 32GB (expandable upto 64GB) with 3G and Wi-Fi. The iPad has 16GB - NOT expandable and Wi-Fi only. The price difference? Well compared to an iPad3 nearly £100 cheaper. Compared to the iPad 2 £40 cheaper. So I get so much more for my money, a no brainer.

More than happy with this and would say that okay it's not upto date technology and Motorola have stopped manufacturing them, but there's plenty still out their and unless you really are obsessed with everything Apple do, or highly technically profficient and must have the most upto date gizmo; then give this a go. You will not be disappointed.

OK.
I have had this product for 9 months now and love it more each day.
This one has 3g so I can connect anywhere. It is also updates to ice cream sandwich now so you will be able to get over the air update to the latest operating system. I find it fast and the touch screen is very responsive and I'm using it now to write this review.
It has USB and HDMI connections and I bought the speaker dock for it and often connect it up to my TV to watch either iplayer or downloaded video on a big screen. I hardly open my laptop these days unless I'm after a specific program that runs on windows.
I love the Google calendar and people(contacts) and the way it all syncs to the net.
There are so many free apps out there as well that work great with this fast processor.
The best bit is that the XOOM 2 is less memory and no 3g where as this has 32gig built in and I expanded mine with a 32gig micro SD card.
You can plug in an ordinary mouse or keyboard and replace your desktop or use Bluetooth like apple. I have a Bluetooth pedal and use it for giging and keep the tablet in a bracket on my mic stand. That way you can play uninterrupted and keep your hands on the instrument.
I love it and am thinking of getting one for my wife as she keeps on borrowing mine.
Don't get the new one, get this one and download the free over the air update to ICS.

My brother said to buy latest version Xoom 2. Why bother this does exactly what I need and to my surprise I searched for updates about a week ago and to my surprise it updated to the latest Android version 4.0.4 (ICE CREAM SARNIE)

The build quality is excellent and the screen is awesome to look at, a tip for wallpapers the resolution for landscapes should be set at 1920x1408 (weird resolution but trust me they will look great on it.) You can get many wallpapers at Interfacelift as it has it's own tablet section.

Mine is 32GB but you can add a microSD card for max 64GB which is plenty for any user.

One criticism is the length of time it takes to startup.... so slow :( but when it loads up it is rather nippy and never had it crash on me once.

Don't think about getting the latest model this will do the job just dandy.
