The title of the review says it all, for the price the laptop is good, and one grade higher (especially in terms of RAM) than you can get on the high street for the same price.The negatives are;
1. there is no HDMI connection, which in my experience it is standard for PCs to have.
2. it only has 2 USB ports, which is less than you generally get for a PC in this price bracket (they are also right next to each other, which means that anything inserted in one often blocks access to the other).
3. the inbuilt mouse pad keys 'click' and make a horrible noise when pressed (which gives the feeling of a 1980's PC)
Apart from that it's a good laptop (but not great) - the best thing is the screen and colour quality, which are excellent.
That said, it you don't need the 17.3" monitor, you should go down a monitor size as this will allow you to get the next step up in processor (the Intel Core i5 rather than i3) and also some more RAM.
UPDATE: 2 MONTHS ON ..............
I have had the laptop for almost exactly 2 months now and 2 things have happened;
1. the battery like has dropped to 2 hours (so much for the "improved battery life" they state in the product description) - I re-read all of the Amazon page for the product and couldn't find any mention of battery life (other than the reference to "improved battery life"), so it is probably my fault for assuming it would be good
2. for some reason the laptop has begun to make a very high pitched 'screech' that emanates from around the area of the hard disk drive - not a useful development if you need to use the machine for long periods of time.
Now I remember why I started to buy Acer machines after owning a Toshiba many years ago ...........
