I haven't even had it a week yet, so it isn't going to be an depth review. It's a bit of a monster, very wide. 1600x900. I got it primarily for gaming and to serve more as a desk based laptop rather than a notebook which is comfortable on your lap. So far I have tried a few demos "The Darkness2" "Hard Reset" Both worked on high/ultra settings and ran pretty well, Although you do obviously lose some FPS it being a laptop. I also played 3 other games "Stalker" Call Of Duty WaW" and "the Witcher" they all run on high again pretty well, perfectly playable. I was really quite surprised at how well it performs and I can now play PC games and at a pretty high standard.

I initially thought I would hate the keyboard since there are huge gaps between each key, but it is pretty nice to type on and seems to be very well built. I do wonder if over time hairs and dust etc will accumulate in the keys but it seems to work well and that may not happen. I'd rather it be a proper chiclet style keyboard but its perfectly fine and better than I expected.

The laptop seems to run pretty cool, while playing games there was no worrying amount of heat being generated and no jet engine fans. The trackpad works fine I guess, but personally I tend to never use them anyway because a mouse is so much faster and precise. The laptop is relatively light considering its size, build quality seems fine but it could of been better looking. The plastic is mostly a matte grey textured finish which resembles metal floor plates or carbon fibre, its a pretty nice look and simple. Just doesn't have a wow factor in the looks department but some would consider that a good point rather than bad.

One thing I'm not a massive fan of is the screen, while it is a HD screen and works perfectly fine, the viewing angles are pretty horrible unless you are in the perfect position. That's my biggest gripe with it and it's forgivable really considering the hardware that's inside it I just wish it done better since I expected more from LED technology.

Has all the connections you'd expect 2x usb 2.0 ports 1x usb 3.0 port, HDMI out which works amazingly, I played call of duty on my 50" plasma and it was brilliant. Power lead plugs into the right hand top corner.

No recovery disks are included, I think this is standard now. I saved a backup on an external hard drive and burnt the DVDs just to be safe, took a while.. 5 disks in total.

Very pleased with the laptop and the performance.

Additional info.

The only game thus far I have had problems with is Rage it isn't really a laptop fault all you need to do is go to a popular search engine and type "Rage crashes" to see the problems that particular game has.

I also think the laptop seems a little slow at times, but this I'm certain is the bloatware added to the system which I will remove in due time.

Upon trying to make "Rage" work without crashing, I tried to update to drivers etc, Acer updater said I was up to date and AMD said I was, the AMD website said there were updates but due to my hardware/software configuration I couldn't get them. Acer and other laptop manufacturers who use switchable graphics customize things in a way that AMD can't update them it seems, so you need to search for updates from the manufacturers website manually to install a driver which isn't "new". Rather annoying.

But I wouldn't let that put you off as I said all the games I have run so far work except Rage.

I'm picking niggles which aren't issues now too, like I'm not a fan of the hinges the plastics uses in the construction seems cheap and I think they could break in time, I could be way off with that though it's just based purely on aesthetics.

if you need an affordable large screen laptop then look no further . this laptop houses the fastest i5 processor available, which is plenty fast enough for most software applications and games. i suggest you upgrade to 8 gig of high quality ram and uninstall any bloatware you dont need and this laptop will boot in around 30 seconds . the keyboard is nice to use, the touchpad responsive . excellent overall .
