i cant believe there are no reviews of this yet,i was looking at the acer s3 but changed my mind when i saw this next to it,it feels like a quality bit of kit lovely size and feels expensive unlike the acer model which feels flimsy and cheap.the screen i think is quite vibrant and the keyboard feels nice and solid,so far seems to be quite speedy plays hd you tube videos very well and i think the speakers are not to bad for a small machine all in all i would highly recommend this even the pointer and trackpad are good,and pcworld are doing this online price for £100 less at £799 so a bargain at the moment. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

I've no complaints about the design of the IdeaPad U300s itself. It has a better keyboard than many other 1st generation ultrabooks and a decent battery life. The main drawback of the device is a rather middling screen which isn't particularly bright and is very glossy, as has been remarked in most reviews, though I still found it perfectly usable. The laptop is fast to boot and shut down, and runs quietly. The 128Gb SSD was big enough to support dual booting the installedWindows 7 and Ubuntu Linux and the machine was seriously fast. I am also quite taken by the "book" styling, which is one up on various other ultrabooks that seem to be aping the MacBook Air.
Unfortunately, the LCD screen failed after a couple of weeks use. When I contacted Amazon they were very helpful and offered a refund or, as an alternative, provided details for a Lenovo warranty repair. I duly contacted Lenovo, who operate their European repair service via Medion in Germany and an uplift for repair was arranged within a few days. When I received a "now your laptop has been repaired" email after 10 days from Medion without any sign of the laptop I contacted the Lenovo repair service to try and ascertain what was going on and it has taken three weeks for them to determine that they have lost the laptop. I am still waiting to see if it will be replaced or a refund offered. At no stage in this process has anyone volunteered information to me, I have had to call their (UK) helpline for information or explicitly request that emails be responded to. The latest quibble seems to be that they want me to provide the waybill for the uplift, even though the laptop reached the Medion repair centre in Germany and was lost on the return journey, for which the tracking information is available via DPD.
As a long term ThinkPad user (these _never_ break :) I was pretty horrified by the process. So, in summary, this is a decent ultrabook - but pray it doesn't develop a fault.
Update - The laptop has reappeared after 7 weeks which included a sojourn at German customs and then a return to the Medion repair centre. It has actually been repaired, as attested by the four large high tack stickers that had been plastered over the base, as is still running OK after a couple of days. My comments about hoping your laptop doesn't develop a fault still stand :)

So far, I have found this to be the best laptop i have yet bought.The first thing that impresses is the design: it appears to be very robust and elegant, and yet it is extremely light. I looked at some of the rival Ultrabooks, and they don't look as nice. Also, I haven't noticed any fan noise.
The performance is also very impressive on the applications I have used. I am not a gamer, but I do use other applications which are heavy on processor and disk. Clearly, the Solid State Disk works very effectively on this system. I think boot time for Windows 7 is around 2 or 3 seconds. Perhaps using an SSD there is an increased risk of failure compared to a standard disk - I hope mine lasts well. Of course, disk space is limited on an SSD, but it is *very* fast, and does not get hot.
The only negative which I see is the limited number of USB ports (two). However, given the price, this is not a surprise. Higher spec machines with additional interfaces within the Lenovo family understandably cost more.
