It's a great computer.I use mine to run Cubase and a bunch of VST's.
I have had no performance issues so far.
Handles lots of resource hungry plug-ins without so much as missing a beat.
The build quality is almost astounding. It being let down only for the screen bezel and a flimsy cd/dvd tray.
The screen bezel had not been fully fixed to the screen. On first boot up there was some light bleed on the upper
left of the screen. At first I thought I had a faulty unit, but a gentle press on the surround clicked it fully in place and the bleed was gone.
All pop-out dvd/cd drawers for portables feel weak, this unit is no exception.
It also feels slow, though it is fairly quiet.
Only other minor gripe is no USB.3 port. Though it does have an eSATA port.
On to the good points...
The screen is good. Anti-glare, and good clear type leaves me feeling happy.
Keyboard won best keyboard on a laptop.
I have to say it's way better than the "chiclet" type on my Dell I'm using to write this up on.
Saying that, I'm no typist. Though I could have done with an extended keyboard with dedicated alpha numeric keys. As holding the Fn key does not have the desired effect in my application.
Mousepad has a nice textured feel to the surface. Well responsive.
Performance is solid. I have tweaked it so as it's optimised for Music production.
I am getting maximum peaks of around 170 micro seconds when running dcplat tests, and averaging 115. That's good!!
The only time I get any unwanted audio glitches, is if I am changing patches in a cpu heavy vst. NI's Reaktor 5 being the one that springs to mind. That's only an issue if I'm browsing sounds whilst a part on that plug is playing. It doesn't bother me as I don't programme pg/change messages into my sequences.
I've not had the performance monitor within Cubase go above 60%, and that's with a stupid amount of synths and fx running.
It's doing what I want as a portable DAW.
It hasn't crashed yet.
I am sure this computer would cope with any business application you could throw at it. As mine is set up only as a single application machine I can't really comment on it's performance outside of my use.
If you are serious about getting one have a good search on the web for more detailed reviews than mine.
Bottom line: It's either a Lenovo or a Mac... "I'm a PC" and I love mine.
