The first unit I got had obvious manufacturing defects in the screen (including a curly hair embedded under the glass!) so the quality control is as expected for a Chinese OEM product. The replacement unit seems OK hardware-wise, but the firmware is very flaky; applications which run fine on other tablets repeatedly hang or crash on this one. In the middle of playing a game the system will stop responding to touch events until you go out to the lock screen and back in again (so clearly a software problem). Playing videos the sound and picture lose sync every few minutes. The resistive screen is OK for tapping, but the sensitivity is far too uneven for dragging and you can forget any pinch-to-zoom or gesture functionality.The best hope is to replace the firmware with some open source build for the Rockchip 2918, but there doesn't seem to be a reliable one available yet.
