This is a gem of a laptop. Small size, great spec, very solid build. The screen is very sharp, although the glossy finish can glare a little. The keyboard is outstanding, with a very positive action and comparatively deep travel. I particular wanted a small machine with HDMI out, a video card and a good hard disk (500GB), but have found myself making good use of the other features such as the lightscribe drive and eSATA port. It runs fine with beefy programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator etc open together. On the downside, the wide screen is a little shallow which is frustrating for some websites etc, making the scroll bar on the touch pad essential. The case has a designer squiggle printed on it, which I can imagine looking dated in time. I wish it was a bit lighter, but thats because there's so much in the package.
If I lost it, I would replace it with the same machine.

Bad Computer, 25 Aug 2010

This computer worked fairly well for about 8 months to a year. However, it suffers from severe over-heating, which HP cannot fix. The hardware is fundamentally flawed. Eventually, if you run more than two or three application at once (for example, Microsoft Word, itunes, and internet explorer) then it will eventually shut itself down, and the bottom of the computer will be so hot that you cannot touch it. Taking into account its price, one would expect this computer to last for at least three years in good condition. But already, after a year and half, this computer is failing. The specifications are deceptive (500gb etc looks great), but the hardware is faulty. Hope this helps! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful

This laptop is my dream laptop after an extensive research online, I decided this was the one but I felt it was a bit pricey at 800. Fortunately I got one on sale for 549 and I can say that it is worth every penny. It is a real beauty -small enough to be carried around like a netbook measuring 13.3 and powerful enough as an entertainment laptop. The processor is fast Intel duo core p7550 with large hard drive capacity of 500 GB and 4GB of RAM. It is as good as detailed in the product review on Amazon. It is so sleek and beautiful; the glossy black cover has an hp logo on the top cover which lights up with a blue light when it is on. It has a remote control, lights scribe, super DVD drive, blue tooth and so many other features that I am still trying to get used to all of them 6 weeks on. I really love this laptop and I have waited this long to review it just to see if there were any cons, so far I have not found any. The operating system is windows vista but I am sure you can upgrade to windows 7. I won't mind buying another one when the price is right. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a sleek, beautifully crafted, fast and efficient laptop with a large hard drive capacity and memory.
