With its big screen - perfect for watching a DVD when the telly is tuned to bunk - and massive processing power, this is the best HP yet. No lumpy box on the desk - it's all behind the screen. The usual raft of promotional rubbish -"buy this software, used this link" - to delete, but it keeps the price down. Up and running in minutes, easy to hook up to the wireless router in the other room, fast downloads and uploads.

I use it for multipasking, and the screen is big enough to permit two separate windows with text large enough to read easily, side-by-side - spreadsheet to the right, internet explorer to the left, with an open slice in between to park another window or two - like the calculator and the thesaurus - easier to access with a touch or a click than bothering with icon-clicks..

Don't fall for the "automatic update" options, though. They slow things down at the worst of times, so the screen doesn't respond occasionally for a few seconds, all for naught, as even when all software is up to date, the programme checks constantly to see if there's something new. Irritating.

Plugged into our home network with no difficulty - bluetooth works fine, the wireless printer as well, and the usual ease of going into the other computers on the network - workes exceptionally well with the laptop and other HP desktop, less well with the Mac and the Dell, but still very good.

Sound quality from the built-in speakers is good - but I'm not s demsnding audiophile - the on-line classical radio station we use a lot sounds marvvelous, and there seems to be no interference with the music units in the lounge and kitchen.

Not the cheapest - but you get a lot for what you pay.

Great machine, you can use the mouse and keyboard conventionally or touch screen functionality if you prefer, or mix the 2. Very clear large screen, a nice quality feel to the whole thing with well detailed frame. The weight is significant with everything being in the one place, but that is the beauty of it - it takes plug and play to a new level.
Overall very impressive for use at home for storing and viewing images, storing and accessing music and other media.

Main reason for buying an all in one PC was to save on desk space and to have something quiet. My old desktop with its numerous cooling fans sounds like an old kettle. You just don't realise how noisy those things are until you switch them off. I wanted the very best and most powerful all in one I could get and only HP seemed to live up to the challenge. I ended up with a choice between the HP Touchsmart or a 27" Apple i-Mac. Several things put me off the Apple, the price, the high cost of additional items, such as if the mouse or keyboard ever needed replacing, and I wondered if all those little useful (and free) programmes I'd got off the internet would be available for the Mac. I wanted the Mac, I mean they look gorgeous, but it just seemed like buying something for the badge and paying three times more than it was actually worth. And to be honest I've never had a problem with viruses on a PC.

I've had the HP now for several months and so far no complaints. It's fast, boots up in seconds, has plenty of memory and more than enough internal HD space. There are a few nice touches, such as a hidden dedicated USB for the wireless mouse/keyboard dongle so you don't have to waste a USB port (Although you'd think this device would be built in) and the ambient light feature you can set to any colour you want. USB 3, blue tooth, media remote control, digital TV tuner, HDMI out, S-video, L&R audio out, and every other in and out you could ever need. The keyboard feels solid and is just the right size, the mouse is the same, fitting snugly in the palm. Both are responsive and the batteries seem to last forever.

The only negatives aren't really negatives at all, but merely personal observations after having bought the thing. One is the Blu Ray drive, which is excellent but barely used. Actually just used once to have a look at BR movie. BR drives have plummeted in price and now the technology is old hat, so a BR drive shouldn't really push the price up that much. I might use the BR feature more in the future so it's not really wasted, but I wonder how much extra I paid for this feature. The other point in question is the touchscreen, which very quickly became a feature I knew I would never use. Having to sit up straight and raise my arm to the screen and then drag things around with my finger became too much effort after about a minute, especially when the alternative is to relax a hand on the mouse and control everything with the minimum of movements. Kids might find it fun, and perhaps the odd puzzle game might fare better, although deliberately touching the screen and encouraging others to do so seems like a gimmick gone too far.

As a final after-thought, the best thing about the HP 600 is the fast processor and the amount of memory you get. If you can get the same spec or higher cheaper because it dispenses with a BR drive and touchscreen, then go for that one.
