Before I bought this item there were no reviews for it.It was down from £1,200 and everyone was buying the 4GB RAM version but for more money?!?!?!?!
So odd. I worked out this was because amazon had initially forgotten to list it as a laptop, so if you were searching within the laptop category you wouldn't find it. Very odd.
Anyway--
Great laptop.
Very quick. Very lightweight. Boot up and down speed is very quick, much quicker than my dell which ran Windows 7 Ultimate.
Hard Drive protection thing is immense. I dropped my phone onto my laptop from a distance of about 10 cm and the Vaio told me that my hard drive had just been protected as it detected potential threat!
Keyboard is lovely - and backlighting is very clever. Sometimes on notebooks the screens dont recline enough but on this one it does.
Downsides- only three so far
Speakers are crap - really tinny and quiet
Headphone socket is on front of machine which can sometimes be a bit annoying on your wrists whilst typing
Webcam quality is poor

Having bought this after a previous new purchase from another company went wrong, I am actually glad the first one was faulty! What a laptop for the money! Great spec, very quick and responsive with all programmes.Boot time is very good for a windows laptop, battery life is very good (could be better if i used the battery saving options!). Nice bright and clear screen and lovely keyboard to work on.
As said in another review, the finger print scanner is surprisingly good and being able to set different finger swipes to load different programmes is very impressive!
The WWAN built in is also hugely useful and saves having to mess around with wireless dongles also.
All in all a great laptop that is perfectly suited to home and leisure use or for professional use!

Received this laptop today, must be honest first impression so so, but now all my programs are loaded and I've been using it for a while, one word fantastic. I even like the finger print reader thing, which I've had before on other laptops but found them nothing less than a gimmick, this one works great.The laptop is well built, fast load up times of programs, back-lit keyboard is a dream to type on, sharp, bright screen, laptop speakers are laptop speakers! good enough for me, track pad fine, battery life, again good enough for my needs, to sum up the Vaio S12, I'm glad I bought it, very, very impressed.
