To give some perspective this is my third Android tablet. I have previously had the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Both were good tablets in their own right but had their niggles. This is what I like and dislike about the Sony.

Likes:

It is solidly built, no creaking and feels like it could withstand some punishment.

Sony has played with the software but the tweaks it has made have in my opinion improved the user interface. Some really clever features, my favourite being the ability to categorise your apps in the main apps section. Also latest Android version (3.2) available now.

The unique shape makes this decent to hold and it really does work well. The angle makes viewing and typing a lot better, especially when using on a table.

Full size SD card included (see also dislikes)- cheaper than micro sd.

The universal remote feature is fantastic as far as it goes. It will get more refined as new versions appear (this is version 1.0). At the moment is does not support 'activities' which is more than one action (e.g switch on TV and then DVD player with one button press) but I'm sure this will improve.

I use the tablet with the optional Sony dock and really like the 'drop in charge system. The Samsung dock was fiddly to use and required two hands to remove as did the Xoom dock. This is easy and quick.

The screen is a unique 9.4". This is great as it gives you more pixels per inch than a 10.1" display resulting in a sharper image, great for watching movies. The viewing angles are also good and the slightly smaller screen is easier to navigate with your fingers.

I don't like:

When not using the dock the charging system / cord is fiddly and does not feel very durable.

Full size SD card cannot be mounted and used as a mass storage device on your PC to transfer files. In other words the only way you can get files onto it is by transferring them through the tablet....WHY???? Hopefully this will change in time.

Why do Sony (and most others) price the their tablets so close to the iPads price point. Price it £100 less and give people a real tough decision to make when deciding what to buy. You can't beat Apple's marketing machine and need to build some traction in the market, so price accordingly. Why can't they see this?

Overall IMO this is the best Android tablet on the market. Its not perfect but better than the rest and I recommend.

Sorry for any typos but am doing my review on the tablet.

I've never had an android device before but it seems like a nice os and a much better range of apps compared to nokia's ovi store (no surprises there I guess).

I decided to get the sony for a few reasons. The design was a main one. The screen is the perfect size and the slant makes using it very comfotable, especially for reading an ebook or pdf. It's also nice having the old school playstation games like destruction derby and I hope more to follow.

The 3 star review is because the wifi is poor. It frequently cuts out or is out of range in my living room when even my archaic laptop gets good signal there. I'm a bit surprised at this really as without a good connection this device is severely limited.

Ive had the tablet for a week now and had no problems with it what so ever. I spent along time looking for a tablet, and nearly bought the asus only because of all the good reviews. When I went to currys/pcworld and had a look at the asus the screen didn't seem as responsive as the sony tablet, the sreen wasn't as bright neither. I paid 399 16gb wifi only, it has an sd card slot and you will have to buy a usb cable if you want to connect it to your pc. I have a htc phone and found the usb lead fits the sony tablet fine. You get the usual android market apps, and the first one to go on was angry birds because its law......... no lag what so ever very responsive screen, so you wont have to use the app killer because all the games on the tablet works fine. It comes with crash bandicoot and a pinball game from the ps1 days, crash is brilliant. Front and back camera, with 720hd recording which is very clear. The camera at the back is 5mp and the camera at the front is 1.3, ther is no flash so day time shots is the best. I tried to connect the sony tablet via the usb cable to the ps3 but it keeps saying does not recognise it......strange becuse it is a sony product, it has DLNA but not tried it yet. I'm getting 6 to 8hours from the battery, but I havent really been on it for long periods at time. The internet browser is very quick and the screen is very responsive when browsing. I'm Very pleased with the sony tablet, hope this review helps.
