I bought the Aspire 5750 model with a i5-2430M processsor, 4GB of ram and a 500gb HD for £400 in late April - far cheaper than anything else I saw available with this spec.Delivery:
Delivery from Amazon was apparently quite speedy but quite amazingly the delivery company left the package with the laptop in a "secure location" at the delivery address, which appears to be mean the common entrance in the block of flats where I live. There's 50 flats in my block and it's in a pretty dodgy area of bristol - pretty unsurprisingly the laptop was nowhere to be seen when I got home from the office.
I think it is ridiculous that the delivery company will leave a laptop in a common entrance without any confirmation of receipt- they need to review their delivery policy.,.
I phoned up Amazon when I checked the online tracking and realised it had been apparently delivered 2 days earlier. To their credit they were very responsive and arranged a replacement to be sent to me which arrived 2 days later. Overall great customer service in sorting out an issue.
The computer iself:
The build quality feels pretty good - sturdy and not at all cheap. The one niggling issue I have is the keyboard - generally fine, but a) I don't like having the numeric keyboard separately on the right as I do a lot of typing and it's quite hard to hit the enter key and b) there's been an issue from the start that the S key is quite sticky and doesn't respond a lot of the time when tapped (needs a bit more presure than other keys). Not a major issue but quite annoying.
The on-off button is also quite ackwardly placed which means that when you pick up the laptop there's a good chance that you are going to accidentally switch off the computer. I think this is a bit of a design flaw.
Although my computer was meant to be a i5-2430 (and has a label saying that it is) checking on my computer properties indicates it is actually an i5-2450! Not as described, but I'm not complaining on this point.
The computer runs really well and is a million times better than my old Compaq CQ40 running Vista - fast start-up and it never hangs, though I can't say how much is down to the computer and how much to the operating system.
Overall, very happy with the buy - just wish the S key worked better and that the initial delivery hadn't been so reckless.

The problem with this order was that the computer package was left on the doorstep. There was no attempt made to make contact or obtain a delivery signature.The machine itself appears to be a success. of particular note is the ease of mail and document transfer from the old machine.
