I bought this item (new) after my wife bought a similar lap-top from Argos a year ago (She had no problems and it was NEW)
Imagine my disappointment when mine arrived and it came in non-standard packing and had been set up under someone elses name.
I have been in discussions with the supplier (Jennas shop) and have been informed that it is 6 months old and set up as a demo model. So the warranty is 6 months old already.
I have issues with windows 7 failing to start and have not had any help so far.
I really do not know what to do next.

Pros:

- Good graphics card, can run Just Cause 2 with no lag (except cutscenes)
- Good processor, I can use 3DS Max on it well.
- Virtualization is possible, so you can use things like VMWare.
- Good HD screen.
- Streams HD well, even on our iffy internet.
- Doesn't overheat.
- I've had one BSOD so far, and that was from a software crash.

Cons:

- Doesn't run unreal engine too well, although it is possible.
- DOES NOT RUN DIRECTX 11 WITHOUT A LOT OF LAG. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR MOST MODERN GAMES.
- Struggles with graphically large game's cutscenes.
- This maybe just mine, but sometimes I get little white lines that dance on my screen.

Overall, this is a very good all round laptop with some good gaming aspects and I definitely recommend buying it.

I ordered this laptop as a going to uni laptop. It arrived here it good enough time, however i am unhappy with a couple of things.

When i received the item i immediately noticed that it wasn't a brand new laptop, for a number of reasons.

- The original seal had been broken along the sides, and there was further evidence of this where the top layer of the cardboard had been partially pulled away
- once opened, i could see that the battery had already been inserted into the laptop
- the packaging for the electrics didn't look or feel new: they were all crumpled as though they had already been used many times before
- once i turned on the laptop, the screen came up saying 'windows was not shut down properly'. once i pressed enter, i could see that it had already been set up before and the account was made under the name 'x', this further evidence that someone has already been on it.

Also, after having it just over 24 hours, a thin flashing pink line has appeared at the top of the screen. although not doing any damage, it is extremely irritating and not what i expected after only a days use.

I would send it back, but seeing as i go to university on Sunday, i can't be dealing with the hassle of sending it back and looking for a replacement.

Very disappointing.

I got this PC las year 2011, till now i am using it is very good, it did't have any problem with the laptop. It has all the features for the basic user, and the performance is good. It has Dolby surround so audio is clear and good. I use HDMI port to connect to the television so both audio and video connect automatically, previously i used pavilion DV6000 model in that you have to select the audio manually. The inbuilt Bluetooth is good for me to use some time Bluetooth mouse. LED Display is very bright. battery backup is very good. I am satisfied with my purchase for this price. I will recommend this product for the every one.

AVOID - my g6 died at only 54 weeks, HP refused a warranty repair but kindly offered a repair at £221, a glossy packaged product built with unreliable components!

I just recently bought this machine in what I would call an emergency because my last laptop (the worst I owned), an Acer, crashed while I was in the middle of working on my Masters thesis. Since I didn't have time to research, I went out and bought a Fujitsu laptop, which with my luck, came faulty out of the box. Distraught and with my panic mode on, I ran to Argos and picked this laptop up for a mere £369. I wasn't very hopeful but I was so pleasantly surprised that I decided to review the product here on Amazon.

A lot of people seem to be complaining about the quality. I frankly don't understand that. You have a machine that fits within your budget, is fast as anything, and reliable, but you complain? My last laptop was twice as expensive as this one and that laptop gave me more grief than any piece of electronic equipment I have ever owned.

The pros: excellent display, very fast processor (i3), easy to carry, ample hard drive space (especially for students). Overall, excellent performance.

The cons: keyboard. It's kind of cheap. But for the price I paid, I can't complain.

Some people have complained about the mouse button. I use my laptop all day every day, but (touch wood) I have not had this issue at all. Either HP fixed it, or you guys are using your laptop way too roughly. I don't think it's meant to withstand that kind of use. Overall, it's a worthy investment and I don't regret it a single bit.

very nice laptop very well built and it has a very nice texture.
The mouse is rather strange at 1st but after a few hours use you get use to it.

Windows Experience Index (below in link) and that swiftly moves on to the part of amazon being misleading
[...]
[...]
The only part i can criticize apart from amazon being MISLEADING this is because in the product description it says this product has a duel gpu graphics card and it doesn't. It also says that it also has 2gb of dedicated ram for the gfx card and it doesn't it has 512mb of dedicated ram and the other 1.5 gb is coming from the 4gb ram cards, not the gfx card, i'm very disappointed with this. This is why i've only rated this 3/5 stars

EDIT: very bad laptop,
It over heats even on my desk, the left and right click buttons have broken and the keyboard keeps lifting up on the right hand side, the screen every now and again has about 5 or 6 lines across it and the best part is that it has had very light use eg skype minecraft and youtube ect. Not happy with this product and will be returning soon

Good spec Laptop but BEWARE. All G6 models use the same mouse/trackpad buttons/case etc.. My left mouse button felt cheap from day one. 1 week after purchase it sunk below facia of laptop. after two weeks LIGHT use, button made a crack like sound and squeaks and cracks when pressed. I would have originaly thought "Oh I have a faulty one off laptop." But NO My girlfriends brother got a different model of the G6 to mine and his left mouse button failed after a week! More bad news is some reviews online confirm others are suffering the same fate. If you are considering buying this laptop try out the left mouse button in the shop. IT WILL FAIL ON YOU!! MASSIVE HP RECALL AHOY!!!! Wish I had waited and got another Laptop. Cheap poor component. Ps - I love everything else about this laptop. I checked online and instore locally and found out all G6's are the same. I dont normally review anything but wanted people to know about this design flaw. I just dont have ANY faith on the mouse buttons holding out AT ALL after using 4 different models of the PAVILLION g6. I will now go for another laptop when I have my money back. I can only assue that other high rated reviews were just after purchase as the mouse bittons would not last longer than a month in ANY situation....
