This is a lovely Desktop which I use for general purpose and internet stuff. I record a lot of music as a musician/songwriter and sometimes I need to get an idea down in Pro Tools as quickly as possible without booting up my higher spec recording PC which is off a lot. Therefore, I bought this HP PC and gave my old Pentium 4 (general purpose) machine the boot. Best thing I ever did.

The 1TB Hitachi Hard Drive mine come with is, by far, the quietest Hard Drive I've ever had the pleasure of having in my bedroom. I could have this sucker on all night and be none the wiser, whereas before, past PCs and their Hard Drives sounded like distant thunder combined with rats scraping their claws on the skirting boards of the next room.

The only downside of this PC, which may not apply to everyone, is that mine lacked capacity in terms of physically housing an additional Hard Drive, despite the PC having the capacity to accommodate one, in terms of both data and power. Bear with me here whilst I describe things.

The Hard Drive this machine comes with, is attached to the inner chassis via 4 caddy screws going through the chassis into the main face of the Hard Drive (i.e. screwed at the 4 corners on the circuit board side). Therefore, the drive sits snuggly face-on against the chassis. That's it! - no more ways to attach anything else.

In order to add another drive, I had to buy 2 brackets from Maplin (they come in pairs) and attach each one to each side of the already installed Hitachi Hard Drive using the available holes on the Hard Drive's sides to screw each bracket on with. However, what I would recommend doing is, taking the already installed Hard Drive out and attaching the newly bought brackets to it outside the PC, also attaching your second Hard Drive outside the PC too. Again using this Second Hard drive's side holes too. Then shove the whole lot back into the PC (carefully) and attach the number one Hard Drive back to the chassis. These 4 screws which then support the 2 drives and brackets. Do you follow me?

Note: When placing the 2 Hard Drives + brackets back into the PC, I had to unplug the big (ATX?) power plug from the motherboard to give me more space. I also contemplated removing a stick of memory too. Just play it cool folks and think it all out before you get stuck in.

Why 5 stars? Well, it's a good fast little PC and HP did get back to me within a working day to offer a solution to my additional Hard Drive problem. However, I'd already solved it myself.

The computer arrived exactly on the day stated by Amazon ( deliverd to Spain) within 10mins from unpacking i was connected through a wireless network to the internet and registering the product with HP . My Canon Pixima ip5300 printer installed automatically and printed a test page to prove it was functioning correctly.

This was the least hassle computer i have ever purchased i dont know why i struggled for so long with my Sony Vario laptop running Windows XP

The only downside is that my scanner will not work with Windows7 so am now searching for a new scanner but will read all the reviews before deciding.

I would reccomend this computer to anybody as setting up the system was so easy and completely hassle free. But three months later the hard drive failed. Amazon suggested i contact HP technical support they were helpful and appeared concerned that there was a problem, but the only solution they could offer was a replacement hard dive which i was to install myself. This would have been ok but they could not ship the new hard drive to Spain where we live, so i was forced to return the PC back to Amazon UK for a credit as a replacement PC was no longer available. I then searched for a new HP pc but a lot of the reviewers commnented on failed hard drives on HP pc's so i purchased a Lenovo desktop so far so good

3.0 out of 5 stars No Product Disks, 1 May 2012

No product disks in the box - very poor if you want to rebuild it. No, when you NEED to rebuild it - every PC needs a rebuild eventually.

If you believe the Windows Experience Scores, the built in graphics really scupper the true performance of this system. The memory/CPU rate 7.4 which is very high indeed. The graphics rates 4.7 for Windows Aero. Better for games oddly.

No expansion possible for extra hard disks/raid etc.

Seems to work OK though - good performance for a basic "buy it and forget it" kind of PC purchase.

The case has a resonant hum too - quite annoying.

The PC certainly looks good and is fast as you'd expect, but the fact that an additional hard disk drive cannot be added is really disappointing. Never had this problem with any of the HP desktops I purchased before, it's got to be this P6 series. Note that the specs suggest this is possible. I'm frantically searching if there's an additional part that can be purchased to make this possible, otherwise I will need to return this unfortunately. Also, the max power supplied is 300W, so if you're planning to add some fancy graphic card it may not be possible.

All in all, if you're planning to keep it as it is, it's a good purchase, if you're planning to upgrade it, check carefully as this guy may not be for you.

I do not use the PC for games, but for browsing the web, organising my life and office work at home. This PC fit exactly what I needed.
On the negative note, at times it tends to be loud, at least loud enough to be noticed.

This is a briliiant machine after my previous one which was 5 years old and very slow. All the hiccups I had with my previous desktop have been eradicated. I can put this one into sleep mode and everything works when I want it to without having to restart everything. It fires up very quickly and is very quiet.

I am in my seventies but found it easy to set up with the booklet given. My printer, external hard drive and internet was just set up for me once I switched it on - brilliant!

It arrived within a few days of ordering and was well packaged - as i have come to expect with Amazon.

Thank you so much.
