I bought this laptop 1.5 years ago and have used it daily ever since.

PROS:
For it's price range, it performs well. It is still really fast, the screen is bright and clear and the battery life is surprisingly good, if you know how to conserve it. The fan is usually quiet and the laptop only overheats when playing resource demanding video games and such. I also had no problems with the keyboard, touchpad or camera and typing on this feels great.

CONS:
The low price is unfortunately seen in the bad build quality. I had the exact same problem as many other owners with one of the hinges coming loose, causing the plastic case to split open at the back. Thinking this would be an easy task of replacing a loose screw, I tried fixing this myself, unknowingly losing my warranty in the process. It eventually cost me £60 to have this simple problem fixed. Since then I've been having problems with the ports on the left side of the laptop, not making good connections with the male connectors. One of the USB ports by now is virtually unusable, only working when the USB is held in a certain place, and the HDMI input is going the same way as well.

Apart from the case, I also have some problems with the dedicated graphics card, which very often decides to stop working, causing 10 sec freezes that can on occasion get annoying.

Conclusion:
It's a good laptop for the price range but there are probably alternatives out there which are built better.

I purchased this item from Amazon for my son who just started University, I have had nothing but issues with the item. It started with Screws falling out the bottom and loose screws holding the Laptop together, a few of which got lost. Then the power inlet got inserted to far into my sons Laptop and would not charge probably due to missing screws that were holding it in place.

I had to go to my sons University and fix it for him ( Gladly I have worked in the IT Domain for some years). Amazon to be fair have been really good and have accepted the laptop back I am now just waiting for a refund.

I thought Lenovo would be a really good make however it falls way short of my expectations I will always now go for trusted brands like Toshiba and HP.

I guess what Lenovo will find with this laptop is that it somehow managed to miss some checks prior to being shipped I expect a few of these laptops will find there way back to the Manufacturer soon.

Very happy with this purchase.

Performs well on general office activities. Good battery life. Fast to boot (but see comment below).

Only problem was some "boot up optimisation" software, which is supposed to reduce the time the laptop takes to boot up, but in my case completely corrupted Windows so that it wouldn't load at all.

Fortunately the built in "one touch recovery button" does exactly what it says on the tin, and 30 minutes later the laptop was back to a clean installation just like it originally arrived - phew!

My Lenovo G570 came apart in the left hand corner after 14 months of regular but careful use. Yes, it's the hinge problem which seems to be a feature of these laptops. Google 'Lenovo G570 hinge' and you will see that it's a recurring problem and that getting satisfaction from the manufacturer seems to be rare even when it's within the 12 month warranty.
I won't be wasting my money on Lenovo products again.

Lenovo has done a great job with this machine. The build and aesthetics of the machine is pretty high quality considering the price. It has a glossy lid (beware fingerprints) and nice matte, metal finish for the keyboard cover and palm rest. Surprisingly, it also holds the latest and greatest "Ivy Bridge" range of Intel processor (beware the older generation i3s, i5s and i7s.)

The only thing I have an issue with is the lid of the machine. Unlike other laptops, it does not offer any form of latch or magnet to hold the lid in place when closed (a bizarre omission.) The strength of the hinge does however hold it in place, but it would've been nice to have that additional security. The display is also slightly washed out and colour reproduction is far from accurate in comparison to high end notebooks. If gaming, video or design is your thing, then you may want to look elsewhere. For emailing, and browsing the web, this shouldn't be an issue.

Despite these flaws... over all this an up-to-date machine with high specs and a sophisticated look at a cheap price. I'd say "buy".

For the price this laptop ticks all the boxes. My son uses it for gaming and drives it really hard. I use it more sedately and it is fine.
All round good laptop well worth it.

This second laptop in a month is proving excellent so far.
The first delivery/purchase crashed completely after only 2 weeks use.
Delivery of this second one was very efficient.
The keyboard is proving more spacious for larger fingers than the old type I had previously.
less typing errors to correct.

This is the worst laptop on the market. My screen turned RED after 1 month's use. I called the repair centre and was directed to around 10 numbers before finally getting to the right one. The person who answered the call (someone named NAOME) had very very bad customer service and interpersonal skills. The repair is supposed to be done in 10 days (if only!) and in the meantime you are left hanging with no laptops.
MY ADVICE: DONT BUY FROM LENOVO OR AMAZON.CO.UK
