I got this laptop for my mum when it was around £450. The configuration is great for a laptop at this price, and it does everything you want it to do. You can browse, listen to music, Skype etc. all at the same time, and it'll work perfectly. It's really fast and powerful, but also a bit heavy.
One thing that you should do when you get it though, is to reinstall Windows from scratch to get rid of all the useless software that comes with the laptop.

I removed one star from the review because the keyboard is pretty annoying, all the media keys are located on the left hand-side and it's possible that you'll press them by mistake and trigger Windows Media, your browser or the calculator. You get used to it quickly and it's not a problem anymore after a while.

Overall, great bargain for such a good laptop!

very unhappy with with this laptop,this g62 much slower than my old desktop, which is a 5 year old dual core model,3 mins longer to get internet connection. i5-460M processor was supposed to be quicker,very disappointing, and finally the biscotti finish looks mettalic in the advert, but is in reality a cheap plastic finish. waste of money.

I bought this laptop to replace an ageing Toshiba Unit. I found it very easy to set up and start using and I am no computer genius. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

I bought one of these laptops and I'm stunned at the performance per £.
I have monitored the memory and cpu usage and using Paint shop pro X2 to manipulate photos, burning DVDs, watching movies, using WiFi to get on line, nothing has fazed it. I thought long and hard about buying a laptop that didn't have a separate graphics card but all in all it doesn't need one for the usage I've given it. I don't play the modern crop of first person shooters (I've got a good fast desktop for that).
This has to be a bargain for a machine with a core i5 cpu, the other ones I've looked at are all a good bit more expensive.
The fan noise is almost non existent apart from start-up and at times turns down to a level that makes me think it's stopped altogether.
Battery charge lasts for about 2.5 hours but I've got a 12 cell one on order.
There's a 4Gb Crucial memory upgrade on the way, it will only handle this much where my other laptop, a HP G56, will take 8Gb.
The case is a textured silver, I'd have preferred black but I don't spend a lot of time looking at the outside.
One thing I've noticed with HP, their laptops have plenty of connectivity there's a stack of them on the left side (read the specs, I'm not typing that lot in, on the right side there's a spare USB, good if you want a mouse on that side. There's also a Lightscribe enabled CD/DVD writer/rewriter on that side as well.
I'm well pleased with this laptop, as I said try buying a core i5 laptop with the same equipment for less.

I am into computers and was looking for a quick laptop that would run games eg mincraft and to do school work on. This laptop is perfect for teenagers and and for day to day use. but don't be discouraged this laptop is worth the money and runs multiple programs at once. Recommended

The keybroad took a little time to used to,and the fan made a big noise when it was turned on. However, I think it is the best performance i can get in this burget!It runs vey smoothly with windows7.
