This review is from: Lenovo Z570 15.6 inch Laptop (Intel Core i3 2310M 2.1GHz, RAM 4GB, HDD 500GB, DVDRW, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium) - Gunmetal (Personal Computers)
I was looking at this laptop or getting the Toshiba c660, which by comparison looks very bland, and does look as though it was made from recycled plastic coke bottles!

The specs on this laptop are pretty decent.
The battery life is around 3 hours.
There is barely any bloatware, just enter your name and password and click yes for the antivirus and boom you're ready to go!
The keyboard is pretty good, has the chicklet keys or whatever they are called. The are pretty quiet, but no quieter than the average laptop keys. The trackpad has some texture to it, but the ones on HP laptops are much nicer, also the mouse buttons are very cheap feeling.
One problem is the height of the front of the laptop, so that when you rest your palms on the laptop it hurts after a bit, as its a bit higher than normal, at least when compared to my previous sony laptops and hp laptops.
The dvd drive isnt louder than the average dvd drive, even when playing a movie. However it is a cheap drive, as there is some movement of the tray when closed (as in you can move it up and down a little).
The buttons and ports are great, three usb ports and hdmi at this price!
The screen viewing angles are pretty good from left to right, but up and down it gets a little poo poo.
Its fast, even though its an i3 and not an i5 or i7.
Its a good budget laptop at the end of the day, and has enough hdd space (500gb) to keep everybody happy.
The power brick has a orange light, which is a first for me (compared to the usual green lights). The trackpad locks out when you're typing too! neat.
Overall i like it, brought it because i needed it and didnt have the cash for something better.

Also i didnt have the issue of current passing through the laptop as the other reviewer mentioned. Oh and the speakers are pretty loud, the volume buttons are touch buttons, not physical ones.

I cannot express how much research I went into before finally purchasing this laptop. Honestly, it's been about 4 months worth and one Acer laptop that I sent back as it wasn't right! Anyway, I decided on this Lenovo z570 in the end and I am absolutely thrilled with it. I'll comment on the features that are particularly good/useful and the very few negative points. Lots of other laptop reviewers on Amazon put their reviews into categories so I will try to do this too.

Design...

It's really quite neat. It's heavy enough to feel well made but not too heavy that it's not portable. You won't find that rubbishy plasticky feel that so many low budget brands chuck onto the market with the Lenovo z570 - it's really nicely made. It feels sturdy and solid which is what you want for something you're spending lots of dosh on. It doesn't look 'cheap' either with the metallic finish and the smart 'Lenovo' logo on the laptop. A minor gripe is that the edges are a bit sharply ended and although it really isn't enough to detract from the overall impression of the laptop, it's a bit annoying they didn't soften them as it can get a little uncomfortable if you've got the laptop on your lap for long periods of time. Really minor issue though.

Performance...

Firstly I was worried that the Core i3 wouldn't be powerful enough and debated forking out the extra for the Core i5 but have researched it quite a lot and unless you are going to be using really demanding editing programmes etc then Core i3 will do just fine - and it does. I use my laptop for web surfing, Microsoft Office stuff, listening to music and watching films/programmes online. It copes very well and is extremely fast. It opens programme with lightning speed and I can have loads of tabs up and it still responds nicely. Really impressed!

It's super quiet too, can hardly even hear the fan. As mentioned below there is some handy software to control the temperature of the laptop and to clear the dust.

Keyboard and trackpad...

There are lots of things I love about this laptop but one of the best bits is the keyboard. It really is a pleasure to type on, it is one of these 'accutype' keyboards (not really sure what that means?) but basically all keys are spread out nicely and I find touch typing really easy and speedy - just want you want. There is the separate number pad which I find really handy. I listen to quite a lot of music and a real bonus for me is the separate touch sensitive multimedia buttons above the keyboard providing quick access to 'mute' 'vol up and down' etc. These functions are still adjustable on the keyboard itself along with 'play/pause' etc.
The trackpad is large and very responsive and has the 'multi-touch' feature allowing you to do all kinds of nifty stuff with using two fingers to 'pinch and zoom' and makes for easy scrolling on webpages. I'm not a huge fan of the buttons as it's just one bar without separation and you have to press quite hard each time howver I'm used to soft buttons on my old Dell so I'm sure I will get used to it (DO NOT GET A DELL BY THE WAY)

Speakers and screen...

When it comes to laptop speakers, you don't usually expect much but my, oh my was I impressed! They go REALLY loud and have a lovely depth and sound quality. Best integrated laptop speakers I've ever heard and it really makes it more fun listening to your favourite songs or watching a good film. The screen is also nice and bright with vivid colours.

Battery Life...

After using this laptop for a few weeks, I have found that the battery life is strong. I can easily get 4 hours from it with light use and when you first unplug the charger it quotes 5 hours left however that is unlikely! Lenovo have included some really useful battery saving software that you can customise to suit your needs and get the most out of your laptop. Very satisfied with battery life for my needs.

Included software...
Lenovo haven't overly packed it with bloatware and you'll find there's stuff you just don't want. However there is some funky stuff on here. YouCam has some fun extras to add hats, accessories etc to your face so that adds a bit of fun to webchat. The face recognition software is pretty cool but I don't use it all that much as a password is enough security for me but could be handy. It has useful software that allows you to control the temp of the laptop and even go really crazy to dedust the fan on your laptop - how cool is that?!

Communication...
It comes with 4 USB ports which is super handy for all your devices. USB3 would have been nice but I really don't think it's that important unless you're a big data mover! It also comes with bluetooth which is great for this price. I'm not all that clued up on all the other ports but mine comes with eSata and HDMI although I don't think I'll use those. The webcam is good enough quality (not great - but you can see me clearly!) and the microphone is easily audible using skype. My laptop connected quickly to the wireless and the signal seems strong so pleased with that.

Also I'm not a gamer at all so I wouldn't want to comment on that but I play some online games and occasionally play Sims and it copes with that perfectly - you might want to look into that more if you're a serious gamer.

Lenovo Brand...

I was initially put off by the fact that Lenovo are a less known brand of laptop makers but in fact in the business world their ThinkPad laptops are actually considered top notch. Basically, they know how to make strong, durable and reliable laptops and as soon as I got the laptop I phoned to get a warranty extension for a very reasonable price and they were really helpful. I'd recommend it for peace of mind if you intend on keeping your laptop for a long time.

Conclusion...

When I say I was a fussy laptop hunter, I really mean it so this recommendation really is a genuine one. You're never going to find a perfect laptop and this was as close to perfect as I was ever going to get for my needs. It's got a gorgeous keyboard, really strong speakers and some useful software along with some great communcation ports and a crisp, clear screen. Apologies for the lengthy review, I wanted to be as helpful as possible as I know the hunt for a laptop can be a stressful one! Comment if you have any questions you want asking and I'll do my best!
